Workshop: 3rd Traditional animation and cartoons course
The pre-enrolment period to the “III Traditional Animation and Cartoons Course”, of 700 hours, is already opened. It will take place between the months of September 2009 and May 2010.

During the month of September it will take place the student selection. The applicants will have to present their workbooks and assist to a personal interview with the course director.

Courses language is Spanish.

Development of “The Taletrotter” finished
The development for the animation series “The Taletrotter”, written and directed by the canary animator Carlos Miranda, ends successful.  This project begun in January in La Casa Animada, counting with the standard crew and the young blood from the first traditional animation course we teach at the ITC-Ciatec Tegueste.

La Casa Animada collaborates with “Margarita”
La Casa Animada and Hampa Studio join together to collaborate in the “Margarita” project.
Conversations between the production and direction teams from both studios end with an animation collaboration agreement at certain shots for “Margarita”.  Work methods and specific shots will be established soon, so we can begin with our work.

Film festival in Berlin AtlantikLights08
“Kneehigh World – It’s all a game” (Entreniños) participates at the Film Festival of the Canaries and Islands of the Atlantic, AtlantikLights 08, in Berlin, Germany. Trough 4 days feature films and short films were shown at this third edition of this show. AtlantikLights is supported by Canarias Crea, a cultural dissemination programme from the canary autonomous government.

Carlos Roca, special guest at the animation course
The animation producer Carlos Roca visited the La Casa Animada’s studios and took part as a special guest at the Traditional animation and cartoon course given by La Mirada Producciones. His visit to Tenerife brought an important source of information about the professional reality at other animation studios from Spain. Carlos Roca founded his own studio, Tiburón de animación, and has an extensive experience in the animation world at studios like D’Ocon Film Productions.
At the present he produces the animation series “Swampty Tales”.

Raúl García, invited to the animation course
The animator Raúl García, one of the most experienced spanish professionals in international productions (specially for Disney), took part as a guest teacher at the Traditional animation and cartoon course given by La Mirada Produciones, in collaboration with La Casa Animada, in the ITC-Ciatec in Tegueste. This course, the second edition, is sponsored by Canarias Cultura en Red, the Cabildo of Tenerife-IDECO and the Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias. At the present, 17 animators are trained, aspiring to hold an employ in active projects developed actually on the Islands.
Raúl García give an open lecture to students and professionals at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of La Laguna thanks to the collaboration of the Tenerife Film Comission.
This event is titled as “Origin and production of an animation project”, given in Spanish, including this themes:
  • From the idea to the final product.
  • Step to step on the developing an animation project.
  • The TV series. Example case “Low Standards”
  • The feature animation film. Example case “The missing lynx”
  • Evolution of the project. How ideas take shape. Example case “Astroschool”

Vicente Mora visits the animation course
La Casa Animada is pleased to announce the visit of the scriptwriter, director, producer and international finance specialist, Vicente Mora to Tegueste, to take part as an special guest at the Traditional animation and cartoon course carried out at the ITC-Ciatec.
This encounter with the students helps to acknowledge the adventure of carrying out big audiovisual productions and being present at several stages of a production. Giving a wide view of the animation, film and TV world.
This visit concurs with the presentation of the remake of a movie produced on the Islands by Atlantia Canaria to the media. Moreover it coincides to make public the co-production between Atlantia Canaria and La Mirada Producciones for a new feature film by Roberto Pérez Toledo.

2nd Course of traditional animation 2008
La Casa Animada teaches the “2nd traditional Animation course 2008” that finishes in June. After the success of the previous course the studio collaborates in the initiative to support the audiovisual professional who want to dedicate to the animation. Importing a teaching model unprecedented in the Canary Islands until now, the studio pretends to motivate the creation a reserve of draftsmen, designer and techniques specialized in the basics of animation.
